The Tiber is the main river of central italy. It rises in the Mount fumaiolo and leads in the tyrrhenian sea. Unfortunally the Tiber's water is really dirty and cause of that the life on this river is really underrated. The only people that appreciates the life on the tiber are mainly rowers and athlets that live here every day to train and row. When night falls, the river with all the lights and bridges becomes a wonderfull show! I hope one day you will visit the river Tiber and Rome.

Vatican City is a walled enclave within the city of Rome. With an area of approximately 44 hectares, and a population of 842, it is the smallest sovereign state in the world by both area and population.
Within Vatican City are religious and cultural sites such as St. Peter's Basilica, the Sistine Chapel and the Vatican Museums. They feature some of the world's most famous paintings and sculptures. The unique economy of Vatican City is supported financially by the sale of postage stamps and tourist mementos, fees for admission to museums, and the sale of publications.
It is an ecclesiastical or sacerdotal-monarchical state (a type of theocracy) ruled by the Bishop of Rome – the Pope.
The politics of Vatican City takes place in an absolute elective monarchy, in which the head of the Roman Catholic Church takes power. The Pope exercises principal legislative, executive, and judicial power over the State of Vatican City, which is a rare case of a non-hereditary monarchy.
Vatican City is currently the only widely recognized independent state that has not become a member of the United Nations. The Holy See, which is distinct from Vatican City State, has permanent observer status with all the rights of a full member except for a vote in the UN General Assembly.
There is also a Vatican football championship, with teams including the Swiss Guard's FC Guardia and police and museum guard teams.

The Vittoriano or Altare della Patria, is a national monument situated in Rome, on Campidoglio Hill, designed by architect Giuseppe Sacconi, inaugurated on 4th June 1911 on the occasion of the fifty years of the Unification of Italy.
The name “Vittoriano” comes from Vittorio Emanuele II of Savoy, first king of Italy. Since when, in 1921, it held the remains of Milite Ignoto (a military died in war), the monument took a new symbolic value, and what was initially thought of a dynastic monument, finally it became a celebration of united Italy and his freedom.
The monument is situated in Piazza Venezia, one of the most important squares of Rome where meet five of the most important streets of the capital among which Via del Corso. Since the huge monument had to dominate the square, to take space some buildings situated on Campidoglio Hill were torn down.
I really like this monument because I think it’s one of the most beautiful in Rome and Italy and every time I go there I’m amazed by his size and prominence.

It was commissioned by the Roman Emperor Hadrian as a mausoleum for himself and his family. The building was later used by the popes as a fortress and castle, and is now a museum. The Castle was once the tallest building in Rome. The tomb of the Roman emperor Hadrian, also called Hadrian's mole, was erected on the right side of the Tiber, between 134 and 139 AD. Originally the mausoleum was a decorated cylinder, with a garden top and golden quadriga. Today Castel of the Holy Angel is visited and photographed by the tourists of the whole world.

The structure is an asset of the Italian National Olimpyc Comitte and it is intended primarily for footbal. The Stadio Olimpico is the home stadium of Serie A clubs A.S Roma and S.S. Lazio and also hosts the Coppa Italia final. It's very importan for the city of Rome because it is an importan piece of its history. Also it is loved and hated by the citizes of Rome, because there are the supporters of the two teams that love the place where they can support their local team, but the stadium is in the a center part of the city and so during the match it's very normal if there are problems of public order such as the traffic. I love the Stadio Olimpico because i'm a supporter of the A.S Roma team.

In Rome, Saint Peter is the only thing you are always able to see, it doesn't matter where you are.
On the top of Colle Aventino, Saint Peter can be seen, framed by the trees, in the keyhole of the gate of Malta's Order Knights Priorate. This is the most famous view of S.Peter, as well as the most beautiful one. Colle Aventino is famous for the churches from the medieval age, like Santa Sabina, Sant’ Anselmo, Santa Prisca, Sant’Alessio, San Saba e Santa Balbina, but also for the beautiful council rose garden, one of the most famous in all over the world, it extends for 10.000 square meters.Window nº 12

Fontana dei Quattro Fiumi is a fountain in the Piazza Navona in Rome, Italy. It was designed in 1651 by Gian Lorenzo Bernini for Pope Innocent X . The base of the fountain is a basin from the centre of which travertine rocks rise to support four river gods and above them, an ancient Egyptian obelisk surmounted with the Pamphili family emblem of a dove with an olive twig. Collectively, they represent four major rivers of the four continents through which papal authority had spread: the Nile representing Africa, the Danube representing Europe, the Ganges representing Asia, and the Río de la Plata representing the Americas.
Public fountains in Rome served multiple purposes: first, they were highly needed sources of water for neighbors in the centuries prior to home plumbing. Second, they were monuments to the papal patrons. Earlier Bernini fountains had been the Fountain of the Triton in Piazza Barberini, the Fountain of the Moor in the southern end of Piazza Navona erected during the Barberini papacy, and the Neptune and Triton for Villa Peretti Montalto, whose statuary now resides at Victoria and Albert Museum in London.
Each has animals and plants that further carry forth identification, and each carries a certain number of allegories and metaphors with it. The Ganges carries a long oar, representing the river's navigability. The Nile's head is draped with a loose piece of cloth, meaning that no one at that time knew exactly where the Nile's source was. The Danube touches the Pope's personal coat of arms, since it is the large river closest to Rome. And the Río de la Plata is sitting on a pile of coins, a symbol of the riches America could offer to Europe (the word plata means "silver" in Spanish). Also, the Río de la Plata looks scared by a snake, showing rich men's fear that their money could be stolen. Each is a river god, semi-prostrate, in awe of the central tower, epitomized by the slender Egyptian obelisk (built for the Roman Serapeum in AD 81), symbolizing by Papal power surmounted by the Pamphili symbol (dove). In addition, the fountain is a theater in the round, a spectacle of action, that can be strolled around. Water flows and splashes from a jagged and pierced mountainous disorder of travertine marble. A legend, common with tour-guides, is that Bernini positioned the cowering Rio de la Plata River as if the sculpture was fearing the facade of the church of Sant'Agnese by his rival Borromini could crumble against him; in fact, the fountain was completed several years before Borromini began work on the church.
The dynamic fusion of architecture and sculpture made this fountain revolutionary when compared to prior Roman projects, such as the stilted designs Acqua Felice and Paola by Domenico Fontana in Piazza San Bernardo (1585–87) or the customary embellished geometric floral-shaped basin below a jet of water such as the Fontanina in Piazza Campitelli (1589) by Giacomo della Porta.Window nº 14
The Roman Forum was the economical, political and religious center of the Ancient Rome.
It wasn't only the center of Rome but i was also the center of the entire empire.
In fact the most important decisions for the future of the city were taken there and also the army commanders used to celebrate their victories passing through the forum during the triumphal march.
Because it was the heart of the empire same emperors built their forums which sill have their names.
In Middle Ages the marbles in the Forum were reused in other buildings and all the bronze statues were ransacked.Window nº 1
