Bulldog Activity Countdown to Winter Break!

Eat a candy cane today!

Take this challenge togay by seeing how many licks it takes you to finish a candy cane or if you lose count then see how long it takes you to finish a candy cane. Candy canes have come so far with their colors and flavors so try a new flavor candy cane like maybe even a sour green apple one or go traditional with a pepermint one. Its your choice, but enjoy a candy cane today!

Go ice-skating today!

Go ice-skating today because it is a fun winter activity to do with friends and family. You could go to downtown, Chicago and go ice-skating outside by Millenium Park or stay closer to home and go ice-skating inside at the Park District of Oak Park.

Go shopping today for presents!

Shopping seems to be the fun part about the holidays, but it can be harder to find that perfect present for your family and friends then you might think. Start to listen and notice what others like and want so shopping will not be so stressful and then your sure to get something they like. Also looking through sale papers are helpful to find some great gift ideas. Or if money is tight this season then a homemade present can be even better then a store bought one so make a scrapebook, a card, or an ornament for someone.

Give money to the bell ringers today!

The bell ringers are out because it is that time of the season again to donate some money and give to groups like the Salvation Army. Donate a dollar or two to the bell ringers and they are close by, and can always be heard and seen standing outside of the Jewel Grocery Store. So when your done grocery shopping be sure to look for those bell ringers and do a good deed today!

Enjoy a cup of holiday cheer today!

Treat yourself today, because it could be getting stressful with the holidays getting near and finals around the corner. So go to McDonalds and enjoy a french vanilla latte, a pepermint mocha hot chocolate, or a holiday pepermint McFlurry. Or go to Starbucks and get a white hot chocolate or a ginerbread latte. There are some tasty holiday flavored drinks out there that are worth a try. Enjoy!

Make holiday cookies and treats today!

It is always so warming to have your house smelling like fresh and warm homemade cookies. So, today make some holiday fun and yummy cookies and treats. These cookies in the picture were made from peanut butter cookies and decorated to look like a reindeer and santa, so get creative!

Go downtown today!

Go downtown today and see all the holiday cheer spread through Chicago with the Christkindlmarket located at the Daley Plaza with different traditional German American stores, treats, and food and also the large and real decorated tree there. The market will be open unti December 24th. Or you can go to Macy’s on State Street to look and read all the decorated windows that tell a story outside the store. Then when you get cold go inside Macy’s and up to the 7th floor to see the spectacular tree located in the Walnut Room. There are so many fun holiday things to do in Downtown, Chicago so check them all out!

Make a snow angel today!

Maybe it will snow today and maybe it will not, but either way go outside and make a snow angel or maybe a grass angel.

Last Day of School Today!

December 20th is finally here the day that we have all been anticipating for so long and the countdown is over with because after todays finals the bulldogs are on Winter Break! Have a wonderful Winter Break and hope this countdown made waiting for break a little bit easier and got you into the holiday spirit! Enjoy your time off and see you all back on January 8th!

Sing and listen to holiday songs today!

The holiday songs can be heard everywhere now whether you are at home, in stores, or in your car. So crank the radio up and play some of your favorite holiday jungles and tunes because it is sure to get you in the holiday mode.

Go to holiday magic at the Zoo!

We are so lucky that we live so close to the zoo, and can go see all the different season activites that the zoo holds. So go to Holiday Magic at the Zoo tonight because there are not many days left to do so. See all the magical lights lite up through the zoo and all the trees decorated from various organizations and groups from around our community.

Snuggle up by a fireplace today!

Read and study for finals today by a nice and toasty, warm fireplace. There are not many days left so keep pushing through school because break is near!

Wrap and decorate presents today!

Now, that you are slowly getting those presents bought it is time to start wrapping them and decorating them with festive holiday wrapping paper and pretty bows and do not forget the tags for your presents so you do not forget who gets what gift.

Find the #1 decorated house in your town today!

Talk a walk or a drive today around your neighborhood and other towns to see all the different houses decorated and lite up for the holiday season. Then pick out your favorite decorated house and maybe you will get some ideas for your home foe next season.

Volunteer somewhere today!

Volunteer your time somewhere today because the holidys are all about giving to the less fortunate. You could volunteer at a soup kitchen or donate some of your toys and items for Toys for Tots because there are a various of drop off locations around that you can donate to like inside of Walgreens has a Toys for Tot drop off box.

Have a cup of soup today!

Enjoy a cup of your favorite soup today. The soup is sure to keep you warm and while doing so study for those last finals that you have. Tomorrow is the last day of school so do not lose focus yet!

Send holiday cards today!

The holidays are all about being with loved ones so send some holiday cards or notes to friends, family, and neighbors that you would like to say hi to and spread some holiday cheer to or care about. You could also put in a picture of your yourself to send along with the card because it is always fun to receive holiday photos too.

Have some hot cocoa taday!

Enjoy a warm cup of hot chocolate at home and do not forget the marshmollows and whip cream on top, while you study for all those finals for the week!

Have a holiday movie marathon today and watch all the holiday classics and holiday comedies out there with your friends or family. Make sure you don not forget to watch Elf because its sure to get you in the holiday spirit!
