| The Hans Collection Nicholas Hans (1888-1969) was born and educated in Russia, and taught at the University of Odessa. After the 1917 Revolution he settled in London and was associated with King's College. In the 1920s he began to work on the Year Book of Education, continuing this work until the outbreak of the Second World War. In 1946 he was appointed lecturer at King's College, becoming a Reader in Comparative Education in 1948. It was during this time that the collaboration with the Institute began. The Hans Collection is mainly made up of books on comparative education and on the education systems of Europe.
